In Mumbai, Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Emeritus Chairman Ratan Tata of Tata Sons and expressed gratitude for the establishment of the semiconductor factory.
The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has stated that the planned Rs 27,000-crore Tata semiconductor plant will change the state’s economic situation and place the state on the global semiconductor map. The prime minister, Narendra Modi, recently lay the foundation stone for a semiconductor plant that the chief minister praised Tata Sons Emeritus Chairman Ratan Tata and Chairman N Chandrasekaran for establishing in Mumbai.
Sarma acknowledged the significant investment on social media platform ‘X’. He posted, “On behalf of the people of Assam, today in Mumbai I conveyed our heartfelt gratitude to Shri @RNTata2000 and Shri N Chandrasekharan for displaying remarkable conviction and faith in our State to execute this mega game changing investment.” “We expect the first chips to roll out by 2025” , according to him.
Additionally, Ratan Tata offered his thoughts on “X,” emphasizing the wider effects of investments in Assam, especially in the field of healthcare. The statement “The investments being made in Assam transform the state in complex treatment for cancer care” was shared by him on ‘X’.
Assam’s state government and the Tata group will work together to establish Assam as a leading player in sophisticated semiconductors today. This new development will make Assam more widely known.
“We wish to thank the Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Hemant Biswas Sarma for his support and vision that has made all this possible” .
“Thank you so much Shri @RNTata2000 ji for your valuable insights, gracious hospitality, and above all your confidence in a #ViksitAssam,” Sarma tweeted in response.
He stated that during “my deliberations with the Tata leadership, we agreed to create a skill development centre that will be co-located within the premises of the semiconductor facility in Jagiroad.”.
According to him, this center will provide training in artificial intelligence, electronics, and semiconductors to young people from the Northeast, enabling them to obtain employment in the Jagiroad division.
At Tata facilities in Bangalore, 1,500 young people from Assam, mostly women, are already completing training to prepare them for leadership positions once the semiconductor facility opens for business in 2025. The Assam government and the Tata group have formed a strategic relationship with the objective of driving the state’s economy and promoting skill development in the region.
“This will place them in a leadership position once the semiconductor facility becomes operational in 2025” , said Sarma.
