On social media on Wednesday, actress Olivia Munn revealed that she was given a breast cancer diagnosis last year. She reported having undergone four surgeries, including a double mastectomy, in the previous ten months.

The 43-year-old actor wrote in the post, which included pictures of her in a hospital bed and with her physicians, “I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration, and support on their journey.”

Munn stated that she received her diagnosis after two months, following a negative test for cancer genes that she had taken in February 2023 and a normal mammogram at the same time.

The caption that went with the picture said, “In the last ten months, I have had four surgeries, spent so many days in bed that I can’t even count, and have learned more about cancer, cancer treatment, and hormones than I ever could have imagined.” “Surprisingly, I’ve only cried twice.”

Munn claimed that if her doctor hadn’t chosen to perform a breast cancer risk assessment, the disease would not have been discovered until her next planned mammography.

My life was saved by the thing that she did,” Munn remarked.

After all of the evaluation, she had a biopsy, which revealed that she had “a possessive, rapidly growing cancer” in both of her breasts. Thirty days later, there was a double mastectomy.

“I changed from feeling completely fine the first day to wake out of a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next,” Munn said. “I’m in luck. We learned about it just in time for me to have more choices.”

On Sunday, Munn and her partner, John Mulaney, were spotted on the red carpet at the Oscars. Malcolm, their son, was born in late 2021.

“I’ve tended to let people see me when I have energy, when I can get dressed and get out of the house, when I can take my baby boy to the park,” Munn stated. “I haven’t disclosed the paper gowns, pain medication, stress, or recuperation process to anyone. Before sharing, I wanted to gather my thoughts and go through some of the most trying moments.”

Mulaney was acknowledged by Munn for his assistance throughout her medical care.

“For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes,” she continued.

Mulaney left a heart-emoji remark along with a supportive statement on Munn’s post.

“We appreciate all of your efforts to be here for us. I love you, Malc and I,” he exclaimed.

Additionally responding with sympathy was former “CBS Evening News” anchor Katie Couric, who had a breast cancer diagnosis in 2022.

“Love and thanks for sharing this, I’m sending your way. and a massive virtual hug,” added Couric.
